Article Marketing Tips - How Frequently Should You Publish Articles On Your Own Site
One of the advantages of article marketing is that you can repurpose the same content for many different formats. Even in its same format, you can reuse your articles on your site or expand them into special report to be offered as an incentive to people who subscribe to your list.
In this article, I’m going to talk about the frequency of posting articles on your own site.
Whether you write your own articles or purchase professional content, you may end up owning hundreds of articles. Those articles may be related so closely to each other that you can create a content-rich web site within the niche.
You may do it in one or other ways. For instance, hiring a web designer, you can have a simple web site ready for about two days or even faster. You can then work hard to publish all the content at the same time or do it gradually one article at a time.
Posting all the articles at once allows you to create a big site instantly. When people visit your site, they may read a few articles and make note to come back again for more. They maybe impressed with what you have to offer in your site.
On the other hand, it seems like a bad idea to do it one at a time. The fact is, this approach is preferable. Some reasons include:
1. Information overload.
What makes the first visitor above read a few articles but not the entire site? If you guess they have limited time and a lot of other things grabbing their attention, you’re right. People are loaded with tasks and information.
Unless you have a well-designed navigation and internal search engine people may not be able to find what they want.
After all, you’re going to publish all the articles one day but even if you do so immediately that may not benefit the readers.
2. Fresh content.
Search engines like to visit your site if you offer fresh content on a regular basis. It is better if you post one article per week rather than 50 articles immediately in one day but fail to update for the next 50 weeks.
Freshness matters, and search engines reward those who update their sites often.
3. Repeat visitors.
If people know you’re going to update twice a week, they’re going to come back and consume those new content. You may want to utilize follow up tools such as RSS feed or email newsletter. After all, since when did you visit those bookmarks you keep in your browser?
Combining this with the tools such as Really Simple Synsidcation (RSS) feed, you can build your readership gradually by posting and promoting the content piece by piece instead of one huge site at once.
